The University of the Incarnate Word, located in San Antonio,Texas,
United States, was founded in 1881 and has become a major institution of higher learning in the western and southern U.S. UIW joined the Texas Higher Education Association as a higher education institution in 1920 and was fully accredited by the Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools in 1925. The university's Graduate School was established in 1950. In 1999, the University of the Incarnate Word received approval from the Chinese government to establish China Incarnate Word in Guangzhou.
The University of the Incarnate Word is an independent and comprehensive university. The university has seven schools: the H-E-B School of Business; the Dreeben School of Education; the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences; the School of Nursing and Health Professions; the School of Math, Science and Engineering; the Graduate School; and the Feik School of Pharmacy. The university is accredited to award associates, bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees.
